Our story
We built this for ourselves first.
UseLodger started as a hotel and shortlet management platform for Nigerian properties. Every property on it had the same problem: a guest books a room or a host lists a property, and there's no fast, reliable way to confirm either of them is real, not a stolen NIN, not a fake CAC number, not a borrowed ID photo.
So we built identity verification into UseLodger's own backend, real-time NIN, BVN, driver's licence, voter's card, passport, and CAC checks against the actual issuing bodies. It worked well enough that other businesses facing the exact same problem, lenders, agencies, marketplaces, started asking if they could use it too.
U-verify is that tool, split out into its own product: a free app for anyone verifying an ID, and a documented API for any business that needs to verify one before it matters.
